Mineola, NY – The Michael Magro Foundation of Hicksville recently funded the creation of a custom sky-scape mural on the ceiling of the Pediatric Endoscopy Suite at Winthrop-University Hospital, to help soothe pediatric patients undergoing endoscopy procedures.Winthrop’s McCann Endoscopy Center offers a variety of highly sophisticated upper and lower endoscopic procedures for children and adults, and staff at the Center are specially trained in care of the pediatric patient. The Michael Magro Foundation, which was established by Terrie and Paul Magro of Hicksville in honor of their son Michael, who they lost to leukemia in 2004, is dedicated to easing the burdens of illness on children and their families. By arranging to have the ceiling in the Pediatric Endoscopy Suite painted with a tranquil view of the night sky, the Magros have made endoscope procedures for children less stressful by giving them something soothing to focus on.
