Winthrop-University Hospital is pleased to announce that it will hold a special program as part of its free Health Update for Seniors community education lecture series, “Elder Law: What You Need to Know,” on Wednesday, September 29th at 1:15 PM. The program will be held at the Mineola Community Center, located at 155 Washington Avenue in Mineola.

Seniors can learn how they can protect their assets and rights from Beth Polner Abrahams, Esq., an attorney who specializes in elder law. Ms. Abrahams will provide an overview of topics such as Irrevocable Medicaid Trusts and how seniors can maintain independence with Durable Powers of Attorney, Health Care Proxies and Living Wills. A question and answer period will follow the lecture.

The program begins with the lecture at 1:15 PM, followed by blood pressure checks at 2:45 PM. Admission is free, but seating is limited and reservations are required. To reserve a seat, please call (516) 663-3916.
