NINE-YEAR-OLD GIRL RAISES MONEY FOR PEDIATRIC ONCOLOGY AT WINTHROP

Mineola, New York – For most children, an old-fashioned lemonade stand is a way to earn a few extra dollars for themselves. But not for nine-year-old Gaby Weiss of Roslyn Heights, who recently turned lemons into largess to benefit the Cancer Center for Kids (CCFK) at Winthrop-University Hospital. By cleverly offering free lemonade in exchange for a donation to the CCFK, Gaby raised $172 for the Center at which she is also a patient.

“Gaby’s enthusiasm and passion to help other pediatric patients by supporting the Cancer Center for Kids is truly remarkable,” said Linda Sweeney, Practice Manager of the CCFK. “We deeply appreciate her efforts and all those who supported this cause.”

The Cancer Center for Kids, a member of the prestigious national Children’s Oncology Group, is Nassau County’s largest outpatient facility for treating children with cancer and blood disorders. For more information about the CCFK, contact Linda Sweeney at (516) 663-9400 or visit www.winthrop.org/cck.
