Mineola, NY – Winthrop-University Hospital’s Perspectives in Health community education series will offer a free program, “Chronic Sinus Pain? New Treatment Options,” on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at 7:00 PM. The program will be held at Winthrop’s Community Outreach Center, 101 Mineola Boulevard at the corner of Second Street in Mineola.

Maseih Moghaddassi, MD, Attending Otolaryngologist at Winthrop, will discuss the latest advances in treatment for sinusitis, highlighting Balloon Sinuplasty™, a minimally invasive technique that offers new hope to patients with chronic sinus pain.

“This provides an excellent option for a large patient population where medical therapy isn’t enough, but conventional surgery is too aggressive,” said Dr. Moghaddassi. “Some patients refrain from having sinus surgery because of fear of bone or tissue removal, or post-operative packing. Balloon Sinuplasty eliminates the need for both, so there is no reason for these patients to suffer any longer.” A question and answer period will follow the lecture.

Attendees are asked to arrive at 6:45 PM for registration. Parking and the entrance are available in the rear of the building. Seating is limited and pre-registration is required. To reserve a space, please call (516) 663-8300.

Perspectives in Health is a free community health education program, coordinated by the Nurse Specialist Group at Winthrop. For information on other programs at the Hospital, please call 1-866-WINTHROP.
