WINTHROP RECOGNIZES EFFORTS OF LOCAL RESIDENTS TO MAKE STRIDES IN BREAST CANCER FIGHT
Mineola, NY – Strong winds and heavy rains didn’t stop staff from Winthrop-University Hospital, their friends and family members from supporting the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) 2009 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk at Jones Beach on October 18. With more than 40 supporters of the Winthrop Team effort, which was coordinated by Rafaelina Martinez, Administrative Director for Winthrop’s Department of Surgery, and Linda Fox, Manager of Winthrop’s Breast Imaging and Diagnostic Center, the Hospital was proud to participate in the ACS’s Annual Walk to raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer. What’s more, the Hospital was pleased to recognize the outstanding efforts of Winthrop friends Robin Battaglia of Floral Park and Paula Rossetti of Bayside who, together, raised more than $1,330 for this important cause. Thanks to the collective efforts of all those who supported the Winthrop Team, nearly $7,600 was raised for breast cancer research.
