THE SPIRIT OF COLLABORATION IN HEALTHCARE: CEOS OF WINTHROP-UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL AND SOUTH NASSAU COMMUNITIES HOSPITAL MEET
Mineola, NY – In an outstanding demonstration of the spirit of collaboration in healthcare, Winthrop-University Hospital recently hosted a meeting between John F. Collins, President and Chief Executive Officer of Winthrop, and Joseph A. Quagliata, President and CEO of South Nassau Communities Hospital.
During Mr. Quagliata’s visit to Winthrop, Mr. Collins and other members of Winthrop’s administration took the visiting hospital chief executive on a tour of the Hospital’s many new and upgraded facilities.
Mr. Collins and Mr. Quagliata visited Winthrop’s state-of-the-science CyberKnife Radiosurgery Center where they met with Matthew Witten, PhD, Director of CyberKnife Radiosurgery at Winthrop; the new, expanded Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), and post-open heart surgery wing; the Phyllis & Nathan J. Mistretta Emergency Diagnostic Imaging Center, dedicated Pediatric Emergency Unit and Emergency Chest Pain Unit; the high-tech digital Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory – and they even found time to stop by the Hospital’s tranquil new Serenity Chapel.
The healthcare leaders discussed a variety of institutional resources as well as the many challenges and opportunities the two hospitals are facing in the delivery of healthcare in today’s complex economic environment.
“As friends and colleagues for more than 20 years, we have much in common as Chief Executive Officers of two highly regarded, fiscally strong hospitals,” said Mr. Collins. “We both find it extremely gratifying to be involved in the delivery of high quality healthcare for our neighbors in the communities we serve.”
