Mineola, NY – On Wednesday, May 13, 2009 Winthrop-University Hospital will hold a Wound Healing Symposium for physicians, physician assistants and nurses who are interested in learning about current standards in the practice of wound care. An impressive line-up of speakers, including Dr. Burke Cunha, Chief of the Division of Infectious Disease at Winthrop-University Hospital, and Dr. Thomas Davenport of Long Island Plastic Surgical Group (LIPSG), who has appeared on The Discovery Channel, will discuss topics including The Role of MRSA in Lower Extremity Infection; Advanced Plastic Surgical Management of Complex Wounds; The Role of Hyperbaric Oxygen in Wound Healing; Complex Abdominal Wounds/Hernia Repair; The Effect of Glucose Control on Wound Healing and more.

The symposium will take place at the beautiful Oheka Castle in Huntington, NY. Registration and breakfast will take place 8:00-8:50 a.m. and the day-long symposium will be followed by a Cocktail Reception, 4:30-6:00 p.m.

Winthrop-University Hospital is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians and this Symposium is an approved Continuing Medical Education activity. 6.5 CMEs will be provided to Physicians and PAs and 6.5 CEUs will be offered to Nurse, PT and Dietary participants.

Registration fee is $150 for MDs, DOs, DPMs; $100 for RNs and PAs; and $100 for residents and fellows; and includes continental breakfast, lunch, day-long seminar, and cocktail reception. (There is a 25% discount for Winthrop employees.)
