NICHOLAS A. CASABONA NAMED CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER AT WINTHROP-UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
Mineola, NY – Winthrop-University Hospital is pleased to announce the promotion of Nicholas A. Casabona to Chief Information Officer.
Since joining the Winthrop team in 2001 as Director of Information Technology, Mr. Casabona has led Winthrop’s Information Technology (IT) Department to the cutting edge of health information technology. A technology executive with experience in all aspects of information integration, Mr. Casabona has overseen the Hospital-wide implementation of advanced IT systems such as the Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE) and Siemens Medication Administration Check (MAK).
In his role as Chief Information Officer, Mr. Casabona will continue to provide the ongoing guidance and direction to build upon Winthrop’s exceptional growth in IT infrastructure, services and support, and will supervise plans for the implementation of a fully integrated hospital-wide Electronic Medical Record system – a system that will significantly enhance Winthrop’s patient safety program.
Prior to joining Winthrop, Mr. Casabona held several prestigious leadership positions, including Chief Information Officer and Vice President of Information Services at Cabrini Medical Center for more than six years, and Director of Information Services for New York Hospital – Cornell Medical Center for more than a decade.
Mr. Casabona earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from New York Institute of Technology. He is active in many professional organizations, including the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA); the Healthcare Information & Management Systems Society (HIMSS); the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE); and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME).
Mr. Casabona is a resident of Great Neck, NY.
