FREE HEALTH UPDATE FOR SENIORS LECTURE - "DIABETES & SENIORS"
Winthrop-University Hospital’s Health Update for Seniors program will present a free lecture, “Diabetes & Seniors: It’s a Matter of Lifestyle” on Wednesday, February 11, 2009. The program begins with the lecture at 1:15 PM, followed by blood pressure checks at 2:45 PM. It will be held at the Mineola Community Center, 155 Washington Avenue in Mineola.
The risk of developing type 2 diabetes and the challenges of managing the disease increase with age. But there are steps you can take to protect your health.
Rubens Sievert, MD, Director of the Diabetes Program at the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism at Winthrop, will present a comprehensive overview of preventing diabetes, as well as avoiding and managing the complications of the disease. A question and answer period will follow the lecture.
