NEW APOSTOLIC CHURCH HOSTS “CHRISTMAS JOY” CONCERT TO BENEFIT WINTHROP’S CANCER CENTER FOR KIDS
Mineola, NY – More than 400 people shared tidings of comfort and joy at the “Christmas Joy” concert held on December 7 at Hofstra University to benefit Winthrop-University Hospital’s Cancer Center for Kids (CCFK). The concert, the second benefit of its kind hosted by the New Apostolic Church in support of the Center’s unique programs and services, raised close to $17,000, bringing their total contributions to the CCFK to more than $30,000.
Henry Schoen, a Physician Assistant in Winthrop’s Cardiology Division, organized the concert in conjunction with the New Apostolic Church, and members of the Church’s New York Concert Choir volunteered their time and talent to honor Winthrop’s young cancer patients.
From a “Jingle Bells” sing-along to the melodic strains of “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” the audience enjoyed the Choir’s Christmas performance and an inspirational candle lighting ceremony that paid tribute to children and adults who have faced a cancer diagnosis. T.D. Securities was the major underwriter of this year’s event.
