Through our highly regarded programs and services, Winthrop’s neurology specialists provide expert and compassionate care to our patients -- both on an inpatient and outpatient basis -- with a wide range of diseases and disorders affecting the nervous system.

- Epilepsy Center
One of the largest programs on Long Island, our Epilepsy Center is staffed by a team of highly-trained specialists, including epileptologists, epilepsy surgeons, and neuropsychologists. We are a Level-4 Epilepsy Center, representing the highest certification in accordance with the National Association of Epilepsy Centers’ guidelines for patient care.
- Movement Disorders Program
The Movement Disorders Program at Winthrop is staffed with experts committed to caring for and treating patients with Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor and other types of tremor, diskinesia and dystonia, Huntington’s disease, ataxia, gait disorders, spasticity and Tourette syndrome.
- Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Treatment Center
Providing compassionate care for patients with MS, promoting education about the disease, and conducting research to develop increasingly effective and safe therapies that will diminish the impact of the condition on patients and families.
- Neurological Critical Care (Neuro ICU)
Established in 2002 as the first of its kind on Long Island and reserved for patients recovering from complex neurosurgical procedures or those with acute neurological problems, our unit is staffed by an expert team of neurosurgeons, neurointensivists, neurologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and nurses with extensive training in neurocritical care.
- Pediatric Neurology
From premature infants to growing children and adolescents, youngsters receive the full range of care by our neurological specialists. Our specialists are skilled at diagnosing and managing children with a range of neurological issues, including epilepsy, brain tumors, muscular dystrophy and other neuromuscular disorders, Bell's Palsy and other conditions.
- Stroke Center
A New York State designated Stroke Center, dedicated to stroke care with a 24/7, on-call multidisciplinary Stroke Team capable of administering care and adhering to the most up-to-date scientific guidelines and recommendations at a moment’s notice.
