NYU Winthrop Hospital is a clinical campus for Stony Brook University School of Medicine. Our faculty and residents maintain teaching faculty appointments at the Stony Brook University’s Department of Medicine. Medical students rotate through our department's clerkships, subinternships, and elective rotations. NYU Winthrop faculty have consistently been selected for the medical school’s most prestigious teaching awards.
NYU Winthrop’s Internal Medicine Residency Program emphasizes direct patient care. Residents assume increased responsibility for patients as their training progresses. Residents have an essential role in supervising and teaching our medical students. This experience facilitates the development of leadership and teaching skills.
Residents are directly involved in the ongoing assessment of training program. Participation in our Residency Education and Planning Committee ensures regular involvement of the residents in shaping their program. In addition, residents participate as members of the NYU Winthrop Hospital House Staff Committee, acting as liaisons to the hospital’s academic and clinical administration.
