icon-cancer-care The Institute for Cancer Care at Winthrop, certified by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer, provides a full spectrum of care from advanced diagnostic technology through surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. In addition, Winthrop is the New York Metro area’s only CyberKnife® Stereotactic Radiosurgery Center.

icon-disgestive-care Winthrop’s Institute for Digestive Care is a comprehensive resource for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of digestive and nutritional problems. The Institute delivers high-tech diagnostics and intervention through the comprehensive McCann Endoscopy Center.

Winthrop-University Hospital holds many prestigious recognitions and New York State designations. Winthrop is a New York State-designated Regional Trauma Center, and a New York State Regional Perinatal Center (RPC), and has earned recognition from the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association for demonstrated excellence in stroke and cardiac care.
In addition, Winthrop has a vibrant multi-faceted research program. As part of its mission as a teaching hospital, Winthrop physicians and scientists are engaged in groundbreaking basic and clinical biomedical research. Winthrop is among only 159 organizations worldwide to have earned the prestigious Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP) for its commitment to quality research programs.
icon-heart-care Winthrop’s Institute for Heart Care offers advanced diagnostics and disease prevention programs, as well as sophisticated medical treatment and rehabilitation, and superior cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology programs, which are known across New York State for their excellent outcomes.

icon-lung-care Sleep apnea and other sleep disorders are diagnosed and corrected at Winthrop’s nationally accredited Sleep Disorders Center, a specialty service of the Institute for Lung Care. Nationally recognized pulmonary specialists at the Institute provide the most advanced diagnosis and treatment of the full range of pulmonary conditions from asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) to pulmonary hypertension.

icon-neurosciences Winthrop’s Institute for Neurosciences provides comprehensive neurological services, including diagnostic, surgical, and radiologic treatment. These services are supported by a sophisticated 14-bed Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit (ICU) – the first of its kind on Long Island. This highly-specialized unit, along with Winthrop’s 24/7 on-call Stroke Team, contributed to Winthrop being named a New York State Department of Health-designated Stroke Center.

icon-specialty-care Through its Institute for Specialty Care, Winthrop operates the Center for the Advanced Care of Chronic Conditions, a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence, a comprehensive Orthopaedic and Joint Replacement Program, the Winthrop Diabetes Education Center – the first diabetes-education program in New York State to be accredited by the American Diabetes Association – and the largest hospital-based renal Dialysis Program in the region.
