Notice of Availability of Financial Assistance
Winthrop-University Hospital makes financial assistance available for emergency or other medically necessary care to all uninsured patients or those who do not have adequate health insurance.
The financial assistance offered will reduce the patient’s bill to an amount that the hospital would normally receive for the services provided. Winthrop may offer additional levels of assistance based on the patient’s family size and household income.
Financial assistance is generally limited to those patients who reside in New York and is based on the number of family members in the patient’s home and the gross household income as compared to the annual Federal Poverty Guidelines published by the federal government.
Patients will have up to 240 days after the receipt of their first bill to apply for financial assistance. Winthrop will notify the patient of their eligibility within 30 days of receipt of a completed application.
