Community Members Gather for “A Cause to Celebrate”
In an outstanding show of support for Winthrop’s Child Life Program, 300 guests gathered at the Garden City Hotel on March 24, 2011 to enjoy an evening marked by fine dining and a most impressive musical performance by internationally renowned vocalist Ronan Tynan. A Cause to Celebrate (formerly known as Opera Night) was the most successful gathering in the event’s 14-year history – raising $120,000 for Winthrop’s Child Life Program.
“Year after year, the ongoing generosity of countless individuals who have supported this event has helped enable Winthrop’s Child Life Program to continue to meet the unique psychosocial needs of our pediatric patients and their families,” said Warren Rosenfeld, MD, Chairman of Pediatrics at Winthrop, “and we deeply appreciate the support.”
A Cause to Celebrate is a pivotal annual event that garners the community’s support for Winthrop’s Child Life Program, through which specially trained Child Life Specialists help children and their families understand and cope with hospitalization. A vital program across the full spectrum of inpatient, outpatient and emergency services at Winthrop, Child Life is supported in its entirety by philanthropic contributions.
