Wound Care Center and Hyperbaric Medicine Program

If you have diabetic foot ulcers or a wound that has been slow to heal - persisting for two months or more - don't wait! Timely intervention is the key to success. Appropriate care to wounds can help prevent amputations and other complications.

Millions of Americans suffer from chronic wounds stemming from diabetes, circulatory problems and complications following surgery. Poor nutrition, immobilization, ill-fitting footwear and certain medications can contribute to the problem and interfere with the wound-healing process. If left untreated or treated improperly, chronic wounds can grow larger, become infected, require hospitalization and increase the risk of permanent disability or limb loss. While many wounds can be effectively treated by primary care physicians, patients with slowly healing or non-healing wounds that are resistant to routine care require the expertise and experience of an integrated group of physicians and ancillary personnel who specialize in managing complicated wound problems.
