Dr. Kohan established and is the Director of Winthrop-University Hospital’s Center for Bladder Health and Sexual Function, focusing on urinary incontinence, female sexual dysfunction and bladder disorders. He has expertise in evaluating and treating stress incontinence, as well as neurologic-induced bladder dysfunction. Certified by the American Board of Urology, Dr. Kohan is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has extensive experience in performing interstim sacral nerve modulation for refractory overactive bladder and urinary retention, as well as in the application of BOTOX for various urologic diseases. His other areas of interest are adult stone disease and minimally invasive treatment of urologic malignancies. His postgraduate training includes residencies in urology an d urologic surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital, and he earned his medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine He was awarded the Pfizer Scholars in Urology award twice for his work on bladder aging and associated pathologic alterations. Dr. Kohan has widely presented at national and international urologic meetings and remains actively involved in urologic research. He has many publications in peer-reviewed literature and has co-authored a chapter in Pediatric Urologic Emergencies.
