Winthrop University Hospital

Winthrop-University Hospital treats chronic middle ear disease from the complex to the simple disease processes of adults and children. All new precise ear instrumentation is waiting at Winthrop in order to restore the precious gift of hearing. Our otolaryngologists who specialize in ear surgery have been trained to utilize the green diode laser or flexible lasers when needed.

A small opening is made in the eardrum and a tube is place to relieve the pressure and fluid from the middle ear. This results in better hearing and speech development.

Stapedectomy and Ossicular reconstruction

Ear surgery is performed using a high power Zeiss microscope to replace bones of the middle ear that are either immobilized or missing. Eardrum perforations or holes can be repaired utilizing patients own tissue or a synthetic tissue depending on physician preference.

Bone Anchoring Hearing Aid Procedure

Winthrop-University Hospital is at the forefront of hearing restoration and performs the Bone Anchoring Hearing procedure to restore hearing through direct bone conduction.
