John F Aloia, MD

Director, Osteoporosis Diagnostic, Research and Treatment Center

John Aloia, MD, is Director of Winthrop's Bone Mineral Research Center and the Hospital's Chief Academic Officer. He is an internationally recognized expert in the field of osteoporosis, bone biology and calcium nutrition.

Dr. Aloia is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology and Metabolism. His post-graduate training includes a clinical and research fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at Jefferson Medical College of Philadelphia and residencies in Internal Medicine at Meadowbrook Hospital (currently Nassau University Medical Center) and at Harrisburg Hospital in Harrisburg, PA. He earned his medical degree from Creighton Medical School in Omaha, NE.

Dr. Aloia has published more than 150 original, peer-review papers, chapters, monographs and reviews in scientific and educational journals. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and the International Bone and Mineral Society.
