A pioneer in obstetrical, maternity and gynecological services for more than a century, Winthrop has always had an abiding commitment to women's healthcare. It was the first hospital on Long Island to:

Establish a separate pavilion for mothers
Have Certified Nurse Midwives
Utilize laparoscopic surgery (in Nassau County)
Offer the option of vaginal birth after Cesarean section (VBAC)

Today, Winthrop continues to be a standard bearer of excellence in maternal/child care.
