Dr. Swedler, who has been a part of Winthrop's medical staff since 1998, also serves as the Medical and Program Director for the Hempstead High School Health Center - a program that serves the needs of nearly 1,500 students through primary and urgent healthcare services, counseling and specialty referrals. Dedicated to sharing her expertise with medical students, Dr. Swedler is also an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine.
A graduate of McGill University in Montreal, Canada, Dr. Swedler completed a residency in Family Medicine at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Montreal followed by a fellowship in Family Medicine at Stony Brook University Hospital. In addition, she completed a fellowship in Adolescent Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center.
Dr. Swedler is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. The author of numerous articles pertaining to adolescent medicine, Dr. Swedler has also presented posters at various national meetings and has been involved in a number of important research projects.
Dr. Swedler holds several professional memberships including serving on the American Academy of Pediatrics' Committee on Youth and Adolescence, The North American Society for Pediatric and Adult Gynecology, The Society for Adolescent Medicine, The American Academy of Family Physicians, and The College of Family Physicians in Canada.
