At Winthrop�s Institute for Cancer Care, women with suspected or existing cancers of the reproductive system are cared for by a multidisciplinary team of specialists with expertise in gynecology and oncology.

The team includes Board Certified gynecologic oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, radiation oncologists and medical oncologists, as well as exceptionally well trained and experienced physician assistants, nurses and a compassionate support staff that offers extensive services required to provide superior care.

The team members collaborate to provide accurate diagnoses, create highly individualized treatment plans and offer leading-edge radical and ultra-radical surgical procedures, standard and innovative methods of radiation therapy and chemotherapy.

The combination of expertise and access to appropriate resources results in aggressive, state-of-the-art care aimed at attaining the best possible clinical outcomes. Comprehensive care includes availability of genetic and nutritional counseling, financial support service, social services, pastoral support, cancer support group and palliative care. Winthrop recently became the first satellite site of the Gilda Radner Familial Ovarian Cancer Registry.

The team participates actively in clinical research trials supported by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) through the Gynecologic Oncology Group, and with the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (an NCI-designated Cancer Center), affording patients access to the newest chemotherapeutic agents. The physicians are recognized leaders in major national organizations, contributing to improvement in patient care through presentation on clinical and translational research, service on committees and active fundraising aimed at helping these organizations achieve their mission. They also participate in patient advocate activities regionally and nationally.
