The rotation is designed so that students will become familiar with the specialty of urology and better able to make a career decision. Students participate in diagnostic evaluation of the patient and in case management. They have the opportunity to become familiar with the multiple specific diagnostic tools available to urologists and become familiar with the basic anatomy, physiology and illnesses of the urinary tract. Students participate in the endoscopic management of patients as well as have the opportunity to assist in the operating room. Daily education occurs through the supervisory attending staff. Emergency room call and attendance are part of the student's experience. During the stay, each student will be requested to prepare a short paper on a urologic subject of interest.
