Course Description: The Department of Quality and Patient Safety will offer an elective rotation available to senior medical students in quality and patient safety. Students will learn fundamental concepts in advancing quality and patient safety. Students will also learn about organizational and individual approaches to improving patient care using QI/PS tools that may include Failure Mode Effects Analysis and Root Cause Analysis. The students will read key articles and participate in quality and patient safety meetings. The student will have the opportunity to interact with the Chief Safety Officer.
