APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Application Form
To apply for a senior elective at Winthrop-University Hospital use the application form. For additional information please call (516) 663-2521.

Availability
We endeavor to arrange rotations at least two months in advance. In applying for specific courses, please identify the exact dates of training which you desire. We maintain a policy of accepting only a limited number of students at any one time in order to maximize the educational opportunities. All rotations are subject to prior approval by the instructor.

Notification
Upon approval of your application you will receive written confirmation of the course and dates of assignment.

Evaluation
All departments use a standard evaluation form to report your performance. Should your school require that its own form be used, you should ensure that it is forwarded to the Office of Academic Affairs prior to, or during, your rotation. You will also be asked to complete an evaluation of each course at the conclusion of the program.

Liability Insurance/ Health Insurance
It is expected that your medical school maintain responsibility for medical liability on you during your assignment to Winthrop-University Hospital. In addition, you are expected to have valid health insurance coverage while on assignment here. Certification of these matters must be documented.

Fees
There are no fees required for participation in clinical training at Winthrop-University Hospital.

Housing
A limited amount of housing is available for medical students form outside the metropolitan New York/Long Island area, on a first-come, first-served basis.
