2014-2015 Salary Rates for House Staff

Salary
*This is the 2013-2014 salary, a cost of living increase is expected 2014-2015.
PGY-1: $59,450  PGY-4: $67,300  PGY-7:$75,000
PGY-2: $62,000PGY-5: $69,900
PGY-3: $64,700PGY-6: $72,550
 
Paid Vacation 4 weeks per year
Paid Professional Conferences
PGY-1 1 work day ($75 allowance per year; local trip)
PGY-2, 3, 4 5 consecutive work days ($750 allowance per year; continental USA)
PGY- 5 and up   5 consecutive work days ($500 allowance per year; continental USA)
Medical/Dental/Life Insurance "Benefits in Action" program for house staff and dependents which affords maximum flexibility in choosing comprehensive benefits tailored to individual needs. Benefits effective first day of residency/fellowship. House staff must contribute a small percentage of the cost of their insurance. The cost will be dependent upon the plan selected by the house staff member.
Professional Liability Insurance Coverage provided for all actions occurring during the residency program under Winthrop's self-insurance plan. Moonlighting outside the institution is not covered.
Disability Insurance Provided after 4 consecutive weeks of employment based on salary when disabled, payable for up to 26 weeks after use of one's accrued sick time. Long-term disability available through "Benefits in Action" program.
Family and Medical Leave Unpaid leave up to 12 weeks in a 12-month period. Eligibility based on 12 months employment prior to leaves, with a minimum of 1250 hours.
Workers' Compensation Insurance for any illness or injury which is job-related. Benefits include payment for medical expenses and lost pay.
Medications Prescription medications in the Hospital formulary free to residents and at cost for eligible dependents.
Counseling Free assessment, referral and brief psychotherapy available on confidential basis to house staff and immediate family.
Employee Assistance Program Offers a host of services that can be accessed via a toll-free number. Confidential counseling assistance is available for the following issues and more – individual/marital/family issues, anxiety and depression, evaluating alcohol and substance abuse, parenting skills and support, stress management, grief, trauma and mental health issues.
Uniforms Provided, with free uniform laundry service.
Meals Complimentary breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Call Rooms Secure, quiet call rooms are provided to house staff assigned in-house call.
Housing Available at heavily subsidized rates in apartments or houses provided by Winthrop. Live-off allowance provided to house staff whose housing requests cannot be fulfilled.
