Curriculum

A three-year program leading to eligibility in both pulmonary diseases and critical care medicine. Fellows see approximately 1,000 consultations requested of the service per year, and assume significant responsibility for the patients admitted directly to the Pulmonary Service. Fellows are taught all pulmonary procedures, including: fiberoptic bronchoscopy; chest tube insertion and transbronchial needle aspiration; and hemodynamic monitoring. Swan-Ganz and arterial catheterization are taught in the intensive care setting. The critical care experience stresses the interpretation of hemodynamic data and hemodynamic intervention as well as ventilatory care.
