Orthopaedic Traumatology

Orthopaedic Traumatology focuses on the most common cause of acute injury to the body: Trauma resulting from an impact or sudden shock to the body due to an accident or violence. The injuries range from relatively minor bruises, sprains, and strains to complex fractures and lacerations that require surgical treatment.

At Winthrop University Hospital, a Level I Trauma Center, the trauma surgeons expertise and experience in non-surgical and surgical treatment of traumatic injuries is central to the care of critically injured patients.
