Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery

Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery involves the treatment of conditions affecting the structure and function of the fingers, hands, wrists, forearms, elbows and shoulders.

Subjected to enormous workloads, stresses and strains, hands require sensation and extraordinary intricate, coordinated movement involving simultaneous joint motion, tendon gliding and muscle contraction.

Winthrop uses state-of-the art diagnostics, allowing for the development of carefully tailored treatment plans for each patient. Some are managed conservatively with medication and exercise, many receive state-of-the-science minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery, and, when other therapies fail, traditional surgical procedures are provided.

In all instances, the goal is to restore range of motion, alleviate pain, increase strength and help patients return to the activities of daily living.
