Todd Kerwin, MD, Director of Nuclear Cardiology at Winthrop-University Hospital, has a special interest in preventive cardiology.
Dr. Kerwin is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Nuclear Cardiology.
His postgraduate clinical training included a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago and a residency in internal medicine at Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals of Cleveland and Cleveland VA Medical Center. He received his medical degree from Georgetown University in Washington, DC.
Dr. Kerwin is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. He is a professional member of the American Heart Association and the Society for Vascular Medicine and Biology. Dr. Kerwin has co-authored many professional articles. He recently presented research findings at the American Heart Association national meeting on catheter-based delivery of gene therapy for patients with severe angina. His latest paper, "Increased Risk for Ischemic Heart Disease Despite Meeting Current National Cholesterol Education Panel Treatment Guidelines," was presented at the 2003 International Symposium on Triglycerides, Metabolic Disorders and Cardiovascular Disease. He is a principal investigator in several multicenter trials and a Section Editor for the Journal of Clinical Hypertension.
