Jerald Cohen, MD, Director of the Echocardiography Laboratory at Winthrop-University Hospital, is an experienced cardiologist and echocardiographer. Prior to joining Winthrop, he was Interim Chief of Cardiology and Director of the Echocardiography Laboratory at the New Jersey VA Medical Center in East Orange.
Dr. Cohen is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, Subspecialty of Cardiovascular Disease, and the National Board of Echocardiography.
His postgraduate clinical training included a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, where he was also a resident in internal medicine. He was Senior Resident in internal medicine at the Brooklyn VA Medical Center and a resident in diagnostic radiology at Michael Reese Medical Center in Chicago.
Dr. Cohen received his medical degree from The Chicago Medical School. His faculty appointments include serving as an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, New Jersey Medical School.
A Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American College of Physicians and American College of Sports Medicine, as well as a member of the American Society of Echocardiography and American Federation for Clinical Medicine, Dr. Cohen is active in cardiovascular research and has received many grants to fund his investigations. He has co-authored more than 60 published scientific manuscripts and articles, and has presented numerous papers at national scientific meetings. His current areas of research are: contrast echocardiography, myocardial perfusion contrast echocardiography and stress echocardiography.
