Jonathan Haas, MD

Dr. Haas is Board Certified in Radiation Oncology and is the Chief of the Division of Radiation Oncology.  He earned his undergraduate degree from Cornell University, was awarded a prestigious National Institutes of Health (NIH)-National Cancer Institute (NCI) Medical Student Research Fellowship, and received his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.

Dr. Haas’s post-graduate training includes in internship in internal medicine at Winthrop, and a residency at the University of Pennsylvania, where he served as Chief Resident in Radiation Oncology. In 1997 Dr. Haas returned home to Long Island and Winthrop assuming the position of attending physician in Radiation Oncology. He was appointed Associate Director of the Division of Radiation Oncology in 2005 and Chief of Radiation Oncology in 2010.

Dr. Haas is experienced in the treatment of wide range of cancers, and has a particular interest in the use of CyberKnife to treat cancer as well as expertise in brachytherapy, IGRT, gynecologic cancers, and pediatric malignancies. Dr. Haas is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Stony Brook University School of Medicine, a member of numerous professional societies and is an active researcher and lecturer, with many papers published in peer reviewed journals. He is a recognized expert in CyberKnife, having been an invited lecturer to medical centers throughout the country and the world on its use.
