Clinical Research

Clinical research refers to studies carried out on people. It typically involves patients with specific medical conditions but often these studies evaluate people without any medical illness as a way to understand what causes disease. Clinical research includes epidemiological and behavioral studies, and outcomes and health-services investigations. Many clinical research studies evaluate the safety and effectiveness of medications, devices, diagnostic products and treatment of medical illness. These types of clinical research studies are commonly called clinical trials.

Underscoring its commitment to providing patients with access to the most advanced treatment options, Winthrop-University Hospital has been at the forefront of clinical research for many years.
