Virginia Maurer, MD | NYU Winthrop Hospital The NYU Winthrop Hospital Breast Health Center operates under the visionary leadership of Virginia E. Maurer, MD, Director of the Breast Health Program at NYU Winthrop. Dr. Maurer is Board Certified, a nationally recognized leader in the treatment of breast disease and a skilled surgeon with 40 years of experience in the field. She is a Fellow of the American

College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Canada). As a result of Dr. Maurer’s passion and dedication to her field and to philan­thropy, she established The Maurer Foundation, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to saving lives through breast health education.

Shubhada Dhage, MD

Shubhada Dhage, MD | NYU Winthrop HospitalDr. Dhage is the Associate Director of the NYU Winthrop Hospital Breast Health Program and is fellowship trained in Breast Surgery. Prior to joining our team she was the Co-Director of the NYU Perlmutter Cancer Disparities Program. Dr. Dhage has conducted research in tumor genomics, patient decision-making, cancer survivorship, and surgical training. She serves on several national committees including the American College of Surgeons, the CDC Young Women with Breast Cancer Committee, and Young Survival Coalition. She has presented in national forums, published, and has received grant funding to support her work.

Dr. Nina D’Abreo
Medical Director of the Breast Health Program

Nina D'Abreo, MD | NYU Winthrop HospitalDr. D’Abreo is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Oncology and Hematology. She is Assistant Professor of Medicine at Stony Brook University School of Medicine. Her focus is on the personalized treatment of breast cancer and she has a particular interest in breast cancer survivorship.
