The NYU Winthrop Hospital Breast Health Center operates under the visionary leadership of Virginia E. Maurer, MD, Director of the Breast Health Program at NYU Winthrop. Dr. Maurer is Board Certified, a nationally recognized leader in the treatment of breast disease and a skilled surgeon with 40 years of experience in the field. She is a Fellow of the American
College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Canada). As a result of Dr. Maurer’s passion and dedication to her field and to philanthropy, she established The Maurer Foundation, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to saving lives through breast health education.
Susan Lee, MD
Associate Director of the Breast Health Program
Dr. Lee is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is on the Board of Governors for the American College of Surgeons and is a NY State Chair for the Commission on Cancer. Dr. Lee is widely published and has spoken vastly on the subject of breast cancer.
Dr. Nina D’Abreo
Medical Director of the Breast Health Program
Dr. D’Abreo is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Oncology and Hematology. She is Assistant Professor of Medicine at Stony Brook University School of Medicine. Her focus is on the personalized treatment of breast cancer and she has a particular interest in breast cancer survivorship.
