Expertise and Experience
Patients at NYU Winthrop’s Breast Health Center benefit from the most sophisticated diagnostic, treatment and support services – including all the advanced resources of a major teaching hospital – delivered in a caring and compassionate environment.
Seamlessly coordinated care is provided by an expert and experienced multidisciplinary team of Board Certified specialists, including:
- Medical Oncologists
- Radiation Oncologists
- Surgeons with extensive training and skill in breast, plastic and reconstructive surgery
Working together, this expert team offers risk assessment, diagnosis, evaluation and management of a wide range of malignant and benign breast conditions. Additionally, the team keeps referring physicians updated about their patients’ conditions with timely consultations and electronic reports.
Patients have access to comprehensive support services provided by a licensed Breast Health Center Social Worker, who provides counseling, emotional support and referrals to resources, to individuals, caregivers and their families. Our Breast Cancer Social Worker will also help you navigate through insurance, financial and other logistical issues during your treatment.
Our Breast Health Center Nurse Navigator help patients and families move seamlessly through the often-complex diagnostic and treatment processes. Evaluating treatment options and making the best decisions can often be overwhelming and a Breast Health Center Nurse Navigator guides each patient through the process and provides ongoing assistance post-treatment.
Consultations and second opinions for newly diagnosed, recurrent breast cancer patients, and patients at high risk, are provided by specialists in medical oncology, radiation oncology and surgical oncology. Surgical consultations are also provided for benign breast conditions.
