NYU Winthrop Hospital was honored with an “A” grade in the Fall 2013 update to the Hospital Safety Score, which rates how well hospitals protect patients from accidents, errors, injuries and infections. The Hospital Safety Score is compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading experts on patient safety and is administered by The Leapfrog Group, an independent industry watchdog. The Score is designed to give the public information they can use to protect themselves and their families.
“NYU Winthrop Hospital is committed to providing its patients with the most advanced medical care, in an environment that combines the utmost safety with a well-known culture of caring and compassion. We have been involved in a broad range of quality initiatives for many years to protect our patients from inadvertent mishaps that can occur in any hospital environment. While our quest to improve is ongoing, we believe that we offer the highest level of quality and safety. This recognition from the Leapfrog Group is further validation that we are on the right track, and patients who come to us can be confident that we take very seriously our motto – ‘Your health means everything,’” said John F. Collins, President and CEO of NYU Winthrop.
