Gold Standard for Inpatient Diabetes Care

Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval for Advanced Certification for Inpatient Diabetes CareWhen an individual with diabetes enters the hospital for any reason, it is essential that staff understand how to manage that patient's special medical needs. NYU Winthrop has once again earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ for Advanced Certification for Inpatient Diabetes Care, attesting to the fact that every department and specialty, including non-clinical departments, participate in and contribute to the Hospital's diabetes initiatives.

There are only 88 programs in the United States that have achieved this advanced certification and only a handful in large teaching hospitals. This hospital-wide, patient-focused initiative is led by NYU Winthrop's Diabetes and Obesity Institute, under the direction of Virginia Peragallo-Dittko, RN, BC-ADM, CDE, FAADE, Executive Director.
