New Chiropractic Collaboration Provides Coordinated Care for Patients

NYU Winthrop has established a Chiropractic Collaboration Program with approximately 90 members throughout the region to provide coordinated patient care, education and outreach to patients in need of both medical and chiropractic care. The program was established in conjunction with NYU Winthrop’s Department of Orthopedic Surgery.

“NYU Winthrop is pleased to launch this new program that will enhance care for patients with a range of musculoskeletal and nervous system disorders,” said David BenEliyahu, DC, Co-Director of the Chiropractic Collaboration Program at NYU Winthrop.

American Medical Association policy supports physicians associating professionally with Doctors of Chiropractic (often referred to as DCs, or chiropractors) for diagnostic and medical services. The goal of the new NYU Winthrop program is to work with DCs to improve outcomes for patients through a drug-free, hands on approach that includes patient examination, diagnosis and rehabil- itative exercises, as well nutritional and lifestyle counseling.

The chiropractors in NYU Winthrop’s Chiropractic Collaboration participated in a peer review of their credentials and work history and demonstrated that they were in good standing with various professional and regulatory agencies. They can also participate in professional educational programs at NYU Winthrop.
