The Naidu family believes strongly in philanthropy, and in Winthrop-University Hospital. So when Srihari S. Naidu, MD, Director, Cardiac Cath Lab, Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program and HCM Center at Winthrop, asked his father, Sriram Naidu, also a physician, to partner with him supporting Winthrop in the creation of its new Research and Academic Center, the latter did not hesitate. The Winthrop community gathered with the Naidu family recently for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the vast capabilities of the Naidu Family Multi Purpose Room.
“Winthrop is an amazing place,” said Dr. Srihari Naidu, who has worked at the Hospital for nearly a decade. “I have a lot to be thankful for, and it’s important to do every- thing you can for your family and your institution.” His father, while not an employ- ee of the Hospital, has a relationship with Winthrop that dates back 30 years, when Winthrop was Nassau Hospital.
The Naidu Family Multi Purpose Room, located on the ground floor of the state-of-the-science Center, was designed to be a flexible classroom, meeting and innovative gathering space for the Hospital and community. Along with their belief in philanthropy, the Naidu family’s history in medicine inspired them to select the vital functions of this room for their support.
“The Naidu Family Multi Purpose
Room is an integral part of the Research and Academic Center, and serves as a foundation for breakthrough research and scientific accomplishment,” said John F. Collins, President and CEO of Winthrop. “Thank you for your continuous effort in research and spreading the word that Winthrop is serious about finding a cure for diabetes.”
The outpouring of support at the cele- bration was a reflection of the Naidu family’s deep history with the Hospital and included family, close friends, colleagues, former patients, Hospital Administration and other members of the Winthrop community.
“The Naidus are a special family focused on clinical care and academics, who take pride in research. Their gift to the Research and Academic Center is deeply appreciated,” said E. Ramone Segree, Vice President of Development. For more information about Winthrop’s Research and Academic Center and ways to give, call 1-866-WINTHROP or visit www.winthrop.org.
