In an outstanding show of support for Winthrop-University Hospital’s Child Life Program, almost 300 guests gathered at The Garden City Hotel on March 20, 2014 to enjoy an evening marked by fine dining and an incredible musical performance by The Atlantic City Boys – A Tribute to the Music of Frankie Valli. The event also paid honor to Rosemary Cinquemani, Esq., Michael Stroud and Frank Catelli, Esq., longtime supporters of Winthrop, members of the Hospital's Board of Regents and Co-Chairs of the Cancer Center for Kids Annual Golf Outing. The 2014 A Cause to Celebrate raised nearly $145,000, bringing the event’s total contributions to Winthrop’s Child Life Program since its inception 17 years ago to more than one million dollars.

Year after year, the ongoing generosity of countless individuals who have supported this event has helped enable Winthrop’s Child Life Program to continue to meet the unique psychosocial needs of our pediatric patients and their families,” said Warren Rosenfeld, MD, Chairman of Pediatrics at Winthrop.

Guests enjoyed a lovely cocktail hour followed by a sit-down dinner in the main ballroom as The Atlantic City Boys brought the crowd to its feet during their entertaining performance. Attendees also had an opportunity to participate in an exciting raffle and silent auction, featuring beautiful items donated by local vendors.

A Cause to Celebrate is a pivotal annual event that garners the community’s support for Winthrop’s Child Life Program, through which specially trained Child Life Specialists help children and their families understand and cope with hospitalization. A vital program across the full spectrum of inpatient, outpatient and emergency services at Winthrop, Child Life is supported in its entirety by philanthropic contributions.
