- Winthrop-University Hospital Joins the #GivingTuesday Movement
- November 30, 2016
Mineola, NY – On November 29, Winthrop-University Hospital participated in #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations, to encourage philanthropy and celebrate generosity worldwide.
The event, which is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, kicks-off the holiday giving season and inspires people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.
Winthrop would like to acknowledge every person who contributed to #GivingTuesday to benefit the Hospital’s Annual Fund, including Mr. and Mrs. Peter Coll of Garden City, Ms. Allison Bryant of Huntington, and the Fenley family of Brightwaters, who shared their personal testaments to the world class care that is the hallmark of Winthrop, as well as to Calogero’s Cucina Italiana in Garden City, who generously donated a portion of their proceeds from their sales on November 29 to Winthrop.
“Winthrop was proud to join with numerous other non-profit organizations nationally to encourage individuals to give back to an institution that has a deep-rooted history and abiding commitment to the integrity, comfort and well-being of every individual,” said Ramone Segree, Vice President of Development at Winthrop-University Hospital. “Every gift, as always made a difference in the lives of the patients we serve.”
Although this global day of giving is now over, individuals can still contribute to Winthrop’s Annual Fund by visiting www.winthrop.org/give. All gifts will support the areas of greatest need at the Hospital, as well as enhance the Hospital’s patient care, programs and services.
