- Winthrop Honors Devoted Volunteers and Auxilians at Volunteer Service Awards
- November 13, 2015
Mineola, NY – Throughout all the areas of Winthrop-University Hospital, a dedicated group of Senior Volunteers and Auxilians play a critical role in the high quality care that is delivered each day at the Hospital. What they give is truly priceless – the gift of self. On October 26, Winthrop was proud to host a special luncheon honoring these compassionate spirits who bring comfort to patients, kindness to visitors and lend helping hands to staff.
“I want to thank you for your smiles and your support,” said Jean Zebroski, Director of Patient Relations and Volunteer Services, addressing the nearly 150 Senior Volunteers in attendance. Recognitions ranged from Senior Volunteers celebrating 100 hours of service, to an incredible 13,000 hours for Sang Ho Lee, and 43,000 hours by longtime Winthrop volunteer Louise Mazzaro.
This year, the Auxilian of the year was Garden City resident Marcia Matzelle; and the Volunteers of the Year were Jean Hess, of Mineola, and George Rossi, of Floral Park.
“We are so grateful for each of you and what you do every day. Your commitment and dedication to Winthrop makes a difference in our patients’ lives and to our Hospital,” said Ms. Zebroski.
