Event Set for May 16 at Jones Beach

Staff members, family and friends of Winthrop-University Hospital will join with the MS Society on Saturday, May 16 to participate in Walk MS: Jones Beach 2015. The event begins at 8:30 AM at Jones Beach, Field 5.

More than 42,000 people are affected by Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in the Long Island community. Walk MS connects people living with MS and those who care about them – it’s a day to come together, to celebrate the progress made and to show the power of connection in the face of disease. The funds raised by participating in Walk MS support programs and cutting-edge research to fight the disease – and give hope to the more than 2.3 million people living with MS worldwide.

“The Winthrop Comprehensive Multiple Sclerosis Care Center provides state of the art MS care in a humanistic setting,” said Malcolm Gottesman, MD, Chief of Neurology and Director of the Multiple Sclerosis Treatment Center at Winthrop. “The Center is recognized by the National MS Society as meeting the most rigorous standards of clinical care and we hope that community members will join with Winthrop to support their efforts to raise funds for more research and cutting edge programs to help all those in our area who are affected by MS.”

To register with the Winthrop Team, visit www.walkms.org. In the “Find an Event” field, enter the zip code 11501.
