- December 20, 2011
Members of the Mineola Chamber of Commerce recently visited Winthrop-University Hospital’s Breast Imaging & Diagnostic Center to present a check for $1,000 in support of efforts to help women with breast cancer, who are in need of financial assistance, with transportation to and from their doctor’s appointments, chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy sessions. The donation resulted from the collaboration among Mineola businesses and the Mineola Chamber of Commerce’s Businesses Against Breast Cancer campaign, which encouraged local companies to pledge their support by donating a percentage of their sales or make a straight donation to this worthy cause.
Present at the check presentation were members of the Mineola Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors (l.-r.) Tony Lubrano, Owner of Piccolo Bussola Restaurant; Robbin Valentine, The Valentine Agency; The Honorable Robert Rosenthal; and Gary Katz, Commercial Sales Manager at Harry Katz Carpet One, with Frank Monteleone, MD, Chief of the Division of Breast Services at Winthrop-University Hospital, and Susana Fuchs, MD, Director of Breast Imaging at Winthrop; Mineola Chamber of Commerce President Ray Sikorski, RTS Print Services with Chamber board members Steve Ford, Owner of Willis Hobbies; Ruth Stuart, President of Staff Managers Personnel; and John P. Broder, Vice President, External Affairs & Development at Winthrop and Second Vice President of the Mineola Chamber of Commerce.
Winthrop’s Breast Imaging & Diagnostic Center was recently designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology.
