Easy Steps for Organizing a Fantastic Fundraising Event:
Keep it simple.
Ask.
Ask friends and colleagues to help. It really is much more fun if you share the load and what's more, you get the benefit of lots of different ideas and experience!
Speak to us!
Don't forget to let us know about your event. We love hearing about your fundraising and may even be able to help out! You can contact the Cancer Center for Kids office by calling (516) 663-9400 and asking for Christian Burdick or Linda Sweeney.
Be organized and set a date and locate a venue.
Have a clear plan from the very beginning and be sure to check that the date of your event doesn't clash with other events, like National or school holidays!
Draw up a budget.
Try to calculate any expenses well in advance and work out ways to cut costs, from getting sponsorship for your event, to persuading companies to provide gifts or services at a reduced rate.
Raffles (or lotteries) are a great way to raise funds, particularly during an event.
Publicize your event.
Don't forget to promote the event in your local area. You could put up posters, hand out flyers and even get your local papers and radio stations involved. For information on how to write a press release and promote your event effectively please contact our office.
Thank everyone involved.
After the event, don't forget to thank everyone involved. Who knows you might need their help at your next event! We can provide you with a brochure about the center to send out with your thank you note.
Last but not least, have fun!
