Cans for Cancer Program
How the cans for cancer initiative began...
How do you help children with cancer and the environment, too? We take pride that we currently collect over 10,000 cans a week with proceeds benefitting the Center’s programs and services.
The Cans for Cancer initiative started in 2001. To date the program is proud to include venues like Nikon Jones Beach Theater, Nassau Memorial Coliseum, Adelphi University, CVS, and Duck Stadium.
We are committed to increasing community awareness about the importance of recycling. To this end, we have recruited students at local colleges and high schools as volunteers in our recycling program. We know that when the community works together, everybody wins.
To find out how you can get involved and make a difference here on Long Island, please call Linda Sweeney, Practice Manager at the Center: 516-663-9704 or lsweeney@winthrop.org.
